Irrigation systems transform the village. Here land under the control of the village Chief is irrigated by a communal group. The result is an extra maize crop providing essential extra nutrition. |
With a Partner we have installed a gravity fed water supply along with drilled wells which provide clean water to the central part of Likhubula. Fresh water is now available on demand and is used daily by Mary’s Meals to cook likuni phala a fortified porridge designed by nutritionists with each child attending Nansato Primary school receiving daily meal. |

Fresh water provision has reduced water borne disease increased attendance at the local primary school and in some areas has provided limited irrigation to allow better use of fertile land for food production |
